The Black Pot | Christmas Broadway – Chapter 6 (Official Lyric Video)

Verse
Now start the celebrations, he’s carried away.
Completely forgetting,
The old tree and his way.
Euphoric with laughter, his whole world is so bright.
With music and dancing,
He is filled with delight.
Big bangs and bright sparkles send fireworks through the sky,
People cheer all around,
As sparks are flying high.
Down on the ground, the little tree begins to sway,
A wobbly man bumps him,
As the year slips away.

Chorus
Oh, black pot, black pot, won't you let me go?
I've got roots that long to reach,
And a life I want to grow.
Oh, black pot, black pot, you've kept me from the pain,
All the gold and glitter's gone,
Now I'm standing in the rain.
I thought that I was special, I thought that I was free,
But all that I was given,
Was never really me.
Oh, black pot, black pot, won't you set me free?
There's a world beyond these walls,
And a life that's meant for me!

Verse
Hunger and thirst now overcome the Christmas Tree,
His needles start to drop,
Such a sad sight to see.
His loved ones strip away all of his bright glory,
Did he disappoint them?
And ruin their story?
There he stands so bare and ashamed for all to see.
Carried out to the street,
How could this ever be?
To his great shock, rows of lifeless trees meet his eyes.
Their roots are gone for good,
He stares in sad surprise.
Please help me, big pine, I need to drink on my own,
The black pot stops my roots,
It is as hard as stone.
My roots are trapped; the hungry machine causes fear,
Soon it will gather trees,
My end is coming near.
Gathering trees to make the best fertiliser,
The old pine offers help,
Becoming advisor.
Have faith in me, my son, there’s goodness left, you know,
Let’s wait for someone kind,
And watch compassion grow.

Chorus

Oh, black pot, black pot, won't you let me go?
I've got roots that long to reach,
And a life I want to grow.
Oh, black pot, black pot, you've kept me from the pain,
All the gold and glitter's gone,
Now I'm standing in the rain.
I thought that I was special, I thought that I was free,
But all that I was given,
Was never really me.
Oh, black pot, black pot, won't you set me free?
There's a world beyond these walls,
And a life that's meant for me!
